Pekanbaru, August 1, 2025 – The Computer Science Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Riau University, held an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) and curriculum socialization on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the FMIPA Auditorium. The event was attended by new students from various study programs under the Department of Computer Science.
The event opened with remarks from the Head of the Computer Science Department, Tisha Melia, B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D. In her remarks, she welcomed the new students and encouraged them to adapt to the academic environment, develop their potential, and contribute positively to the world of science and society.
Another main agenda item was the socialization of the curriculum for each study program. Drs. Sukamto, M.Kom., Head of the Information Systems Undergraduate Study Program, presented the latest curriculum designed to meet industry needs and developments in information technology. He emphasized the importance of mastering core competencies in information systems and their application in various sectors.
Meanwhile, Aidil Fitriansyah, S.Kom., MIT., Head of the Diploma 3 Informatics Management Study Program, explained the curriculum structure, which focuses on mastering practical skills and preparing graduates to face the challenges of the workforce.
The event proceeded smoothly and received an enthusiastic response from new students, demonstrated by their active participation in the question-and-answer session. Through this PKKMB activity and curriculum socialization, it is hoped that new students will understand the direction of their education and be motivated to achieve academic and non-academic achievements during their studies at the University of Riau.
