The Computer Science Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Riau University, once again held a guest lecture as part of its industry-enriching program for students. On this occasion, the Computer Science Department presented Ananta Dwi Bodhitama, Manager of Information Management & Data Analytics at Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), as the keynote speaker on the topic "Structure and Function of the IT Organization at Pertamina Hulu Rokan."
The guest lecture, held on Friday, October 24, 2025, was attended by Computer Science students taking several courses related to management and information technology. The event was opened by the lecturer and attended by several lecturers from the department, who warmly welcomed the guest speaker from the national energy industry.
In his presentation, Ananta Dwi Bodhitama comprehensively explained the strategic role of the information technology organization (IT Organization) in supporting operations and digital transformation within Pertamina Hulu Rokan. He also outlined the IT organizational structure at PHR, which encompasses various divisions such as Information Management, Data Analytics, Infrastructure, and Application Development, and explained how coordination between these divisions contributes to the company's business effectiveness.
He further emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making and the role of the Information Management & Data Analytics Department in managing data as a critical company asset. Students were also encouraged to understand how the application of modern information technology and data analysis can add value to operational efficiency in the energy sector.
In addition to the presentation, the guest lecture session included an interactive discussion between the speaker and students. Many participants enthusiastically asked questions about career opportunities in IT in the energy industry, the challenges of digitalization in large companies, and the competencies needed to compete in the professional workforce.
