The Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Riau (UNRI), held an industrial visit to Telkomsel's Central Sumatra Region on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, to align the curricula of the Bachelor of Information Systems and Diploma III Informatics Management study programs. This activity involved fellow lecturers, the Head of Study Programs, the Vice Dean II for Finance & General Affairs of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and several students, as part of an effort to ensure the curriculum is more relevant to the current needs of the IT industry.

The main objective of the curriculum alignment is to ensure that the teaching materials in both study programs align with the competencies required by the workforce, the latest digital technology trends, and practical industry needs. During the discussion session, attendees—both academics and Telkomsel practitioners—reviewed critical competencies in the era of digital transformation, such as mobile applications, big data, cybersecurity, and information systems project development.

Through this visit, the group received firsthand information about Telkomsel's operational structure, the technologies implemented, and the innovation challenges currently facing Telkomsel. Students also gained an understanding of the latest technologies and tools used by the company in their daily practices.

According to the Head of the Computer Science Department at UNRI, Tisha Melia, B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D., this initiative demonstrates the institution's commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also prepared to face real-world industry challenges. She stated that graduates are expected to be able to apply technology concretely and provide solutions in a professional context.

Meanwhile, Agus Sugiarto, General Manager of Telkomsel's NOP for Sumbagteng, expressed his appreciation for this collaboration and emphasized that Telkomsel is ready to be a strategic partner in developing student competencies. He hopes students will understand the opportunities and challenges of the digital sector through hands-on experience in companies.
