As an effort to enhance students’ competence and knowledge in information technology, the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Riau, organized a guest lecture in collaboration with Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR). This event is part of a collaborative initiative between academia and industry to strengthen the connection between theory and practical implementation.

The guest lecture series was conducted over several sessions as a substitute for the Information Technology Project Management course, coordinated by Evfi Mahdiah, M.IT. The event was officially opened by Dr. Tisha Melia, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Computer Science, who emphasized the importance of exposing students to real-world professional practices in the technology industry.

“Through this program, we hope students can understand how project management and information technology concepts are implemented in real-world settings, particularly in the energy industry, which is increasingly adopting data-driven and artificial intelligence technologies,” said Dr. Tisha Melia in her opening remarks.

The guest lecture was delivered by Ir. Prabandana Listyanto, M.Sc., IPU., PMP., a professional from Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR). In his presentation, he shared insights on the implementation of machine learning within PHR’s operational environment, covering both fundamental concepts and practical applications that support the company’s operational efficiency.

Through engaging and insightful discussions, students gained a deeper understanding of how machine learning and data analytics play a vital role in technology-driven decision-making processes within the energy sector.

This guest lecture not only enriched students’ knowledge but also opened broader opportunities for collaboration between the Department of Computer Science, FMIPA Universitas Riau, and Pertamina Hulu Rokan in developing highly skilled human resources ready to face the challenges of the digital era.
