Two student teams from the Computer Science Study Program at the University of Riau achieved impressive achievements in the UNRI’S LIBRARY ART & BOOK FEST 2025 Short Film Competition "Literacy, Libraries, and Gen Z," organized by the UPA Library of the University of Riau. This competition provided a platform for student creativity in addressing the theme of literacy and the role of libraries in the Generation Z era through audio-visual works.

In this year's competition, two teams from the Computer Science Department dominated, winning various major categories.

The Siapgaksiap Team Won First Place in the Short Film Competition

The Siapgaksiap Team, consisting of Computer Science students:

  1. Yoanna Michelle Ronauli Br. Marpaung (Writer & Director)
  2. Daniel Francisko Rajagukguk (Producer)
  3. Bunga Okta Dizani Akmal (Lead Actress)
  4. Zhafira Az-zahra Syahla (Second Actress)

won First Place in the Short Film Competition. In addition, the team also took home two other awards:

  1. Best Poster
  2. Best Actress

The Siapgaksiap team's work was deemed superior for its ability to combine modern literacy concepts, library utilization, and compelling narrative and visual strengths that appeal to Generation Z.

Codex Film Maker Team Wins Second Place and Best Actor

The second team from Computer Science, Codex Film Maker, also demonstrated equally impressive achievements. This team consisted of:

  1. Ridho Arbaan Karlis
  2. Daffa Al Syaddad
  3. Nora Aurora
  4. Jeremia Charlie Sihite
  5. Ridho Prasetyo
  6. Muhammad Jordi
  7. Raditya Hadi Rahmansyah

The Codex Film Maker team successfully won:

  1. Second Place in the Short Film Competition
  2. Best Actor

Their work was recognized for its strong literacy message, the use of libraries as a central element of the story, and the captivating acting performances of its main characters.

The achievements of these two teams demonstrate that UNRI Computer Science students excel not only in technology but also in the creative worlds of art, film, and digital literacy. This success is expected to inspire other students to actively engage in creative work and participate in campus creative activities.
