The Computer Science Department successfully held the final session of a series of Public Lectures with guest lecturers from Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) on Friday, November 21, 2025. This activity was part of the Kapita Selekta lecture series attended by final-year students of the Information Systems and Computer Science Study Programs.
On this occasion, the Computer Science Department presented a special resource person, Mr. Rudi Wicaksono, Manager of IT Planning, Governance & Security Information Technology at PHR. He delivered a presentation titled "Understand and Manage Your Human Risk," which highlighted the importance of humans as a key factor in information system security. Not only technological devices need to be considered in maintaining data security, but user habits, behaviors, and awareness also determine a system's vulnerability to cyber threats.
In his presentation, Mr. Rudi provided several real-life examples of information security cases involving human error, as well as strategies that individuals and organizations can implement to minimize these risks. Students were also given an understanding of the application of effective governance and security management in industrial environments, particularly at an energy company as large as PHR.
This public lecture concluded a series of four meetings with PHR guest lecturers held at the end of each month during the Kapita Selekta course. Through these activities, students gained real-world insights into the world of work, particularly regarding information technology in the oil and gas industry.
The Computer Science Department hopes that cooperation and collaboration between institutions and industry, such as PHR, will continue in the future. This will ensure that graduates possess competencies that are increasingly relevant to the needs and challenges of the professional world.
