The Computer Science Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Riau University, held a guest lecture in the Information Technology Project Management course. Muhammad Firdaus, a guest lecturer from Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), presented the lecture on Monday, October 6, 2025, in the Computer Science Department lecture hall, FMIPA, Riau University. The guest lecture was attended by Computer Science students studying the Information Technology Project Management course.

In his presentation, Muhammad Firdaus discussed the application of two main approaches to information technology project management: the Waterfall methodology and the Agile Scrum methodology. He explained how both methods are used in industry, particularly within Pertamina Hulu Rokan, and provided concrete examples of their application on technology projects undertaken by the company.

Through this activity, students gained a broader understanding of the practical application of project management in the industrial world and understood the differences and advantages of each method in the context of information technology project management.

This guest lecture is part of the Computer Science Department's efforts at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Riau, to strengthen the connection between academia and industry, while providing a contextual learning experience relevant to job market needs.

This activity is expected to provide students with a concrete understanding of the application of project management theory in a professional environment, while also preparing them for the challenges of the information technology workplace.
