The Computer Science Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Riau University, once again held a guest lecture as part of its efforts to strengthen synergy between academia and industry. On this occasion, the department invited Ir. Prabandana L, IPU, PMP, a professional from Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), as a guest lecturer in the Information Technology Project Management course.

The guest lecture was held on Monday, October 20, 2025, and was attended by Computer Science students currently taking the course. The presence of this speaker from the national energy industry was enthusiastically received by both students and lecturers, given the topic's high relevance to today's workplace.

In his presentation, Ir. Prabandana L, IPU, PMP discussed the SCRUM methodology in depth, a popular approach to software development that falls within the Agile Project Management framework. He explained the basic principles of SCRUM, the key roles within a SCRUM team, the sprint stages, and how applying this method can improve efficiency and collaboration in information technology projects in industrial environments, particularly at Pertamina Hulu Rokan.

In addition to sharing theory, he also emphasized the importance of soft skills, such as communication, team leadership, and adaptability, which are key to successfully implementing the SCRUM methodology effectively. Through various case studies presented, students gained a concrete understanding of how the method is applied in large-scale technology projects.

Through this guest lecture, the Computer Science Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Riau, is committed to continuing to provide relevant and inspiring academic activities that support student competency development so they are ready to compete in the professional world, particularly in the fields of information technology and project management.
